The list above comes from the rolling stones website, according to the these were the top movies in 2016. The nine movies that are highlighted in yellow are also books. I myself have never heard of half of these movies nor have I heard of the books. I think that goes to show that even though a book might not be that popular doesn't mean that it wouldn't make for a good movie. Once a movie is made from a book however I think that this happens to boost the sales that a book receives. This could be from people watching the movie and then going out to purchase the book that the film was based. At the end of the day, i believe that when books get turned in to movies it's good for both the movie and book because if someone likes the book chances are they will buy a ticket to go see the movie and if someone likes the movie chances are the might go out to purchase the book.
